Welcome to my site, the home of all things Cribb Photography. I'm Mark Cribb; Chief Photographer, Creative Director, Senior Consultant and General Dogsbody of my own Wedding and Portrait Photography business based in Grimsby and Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, UK.
You're in the right place to find out a little bit more about the man behind the camera.
My journey to running my own wedding and portrait photography business has been a quite diverse one, but all centered around my love for all things creative. My initial interest of art and illustration lead to my first passion of drawing cartoons. From drawing caricatures of family and friends, to getting in trouble at school for creating a collection of hand drawn portraits of some of the more 'interesting' teachers.
During my A-levels, I continued with the illustration, but also began leaning more towards graphic design and digital media disciplines, eventually studying for a BA Honours Degree at the University of Huddersfield in 'Creative Imaging'.
Finishing Uni with a 2:1 degree in the Summer of 2007, I moved back home to Grimsby, and quickly got a job working at at a local Sixth Form college, supporting the staff and students in the Media Studies and Graphic Design departments.
It wasn't long before I moved on to my next position, Digital Media Technician at Oasis Academy Wintringham, where I spent 5 happy years, and met my amazing wife (who ironically teaches GCSE Photography) who has supported me every step of the way with the transition to focusing solely on my photography. It was during this time I set up a photography studio for the Academy, but hired out the space on weekends and school holidays to capture child and family portraits. My client base has grown massively, and I'm now one of the go-to family photographers in the Grimsby and Cleethorpes area. More recently, as business grew and grew, I began looking for a permanent base and studio space, and found my dream premises at the Meridian Point Craft Centre, Cleethorpes.
In 2011, I was asked to photograph my first wedding, and was absolutely terrified! But I made it through and I have Ali and Mike to thank enormously for trusting me to capture their special day and giving me my first taste of wedding photography.
Since then I could not imagine anything I would rather do for a living, and began buidling up my portfolio, learning more and more with each wedding. I can honestly say there is nothing better than being involved in a couple's magical day from start to finish, and seeing the reaction when they first view their images.
As my business grew and grew, I knew this what what I wanted to do full time, so made the most difficult decision of my career so far and gave up my day job at Oasis Academy Wintringham to focus solely on Cribb Photography. In December 2013 I left my 9-5 office job (and guaranteed income!) for the final time to venture into world of self-employment and the heavily saturated industry of professional photography. I feel proud to have built up a positive reputation in an industry of so many talented photographers, and I'm excited to meet and photograph more incredible people from all areas of life.
